Brown Butter Banana Bread — Toasted, fragrant, slice-it-warm, a bake recipe from Pamela Herrera's Sunshine Kitchen

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Steps

  1. 1Heat oven to 350°F and line a loaf pan with parchment.
  2. 2Melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat, swirling, until it smells nutty and turns amber. Pour into a large bowl and cool 5 minutes.
  3. 3Whisk in bananas, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. 4Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt; stir just to combine. Fold in walnuts.
  5. 5Pour into the pan and bake 50–60 minutes, until a tester comes out clean. Cool 15 minutes before slicing.
